I used to see these flowers as too pompous. This was before I discovered them in the paintings of Chaim Soutine. I suddenly saw them in a different light. There is a vast range of emotions that they release. In this piece I attempted to convey Love. The red color magnifies this feeling.

Mimosa On Red Background

Back in Russia, in spring time on March 8 during the International Women's Day celebration, I was accustomed to seeing small bouquets of mimosa which were given by men to their beloved. It was wonderful to discover mimosa in Israel as well. These are massive bushes or trees covered with colossal bright yellow balls. I paint mimosa every spring and every time I use different technique. She is indeed very beautiful!

Сharming lilies have a rich history. These marvelous flowers were used as a main decoration in portraits of noble ladies of the Middle Ages. Lilies of various colors were often depicted on the coats of arms French kings, symbolizing grandeur, nobility and beauty. To me, lilies are just lovely flowers.
